York Region Police were contacted by York Children’s Aid Society regarding a child who had been transported to a hospital in the City of Toronto on Monday, January 15, 2024.

Police said the seven-week-old infant was suffering from significant injuries which could not be explained by their parents.

On Thursday, January 18, 2024, the infant succumbed to their injuries.

On October 23, 2024, the Homicide Unit charged the infant’s father, Hei YIP, 30, of the City of Richmond Hill, with Second Degree Murder.
