On January 8th at approximately 8 p.m Longueuil police were called to a building on Saint-Gérald Street.

On arrival police located Patrick Synnott, who had been assaulted with a weapon. He was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police arrested Guy Durocher at the scene and charged him with second-degree murder.
