RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment and EHS responded to a reported assault at a home in the 2400 block of Beaver Bank Road in Beaver Bank around 8:00 p.m. on December 12th.
When officers arrived, they found a 28-year-old man suffering from critical injuries. Life-saving efforts were immediately provided by police and paramedics, but the man was later pronounced dead at the scene.
A suspect was located nearby and taken into custody without incident shortly after police arrived.
Evan Wheadon, 20, of Beaver Bank, has been charged with second-degree murder. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on December 15.
Police say the victim and the accused were known to one another, and the incident is not believed to have been random.
The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the Integrated Homicide Section, with assistance from RCMP Forensic Identification Services and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service.
