Update: Drew Moore charged – Edmonton police investigate the death of Erin Kern in the Strathearn neighbourhood

Edmonton Police were called to a report of a possible deceased female and a male with a weapon at a residence in the area of 95 Avenue and 91 Street on Feb. 11, 2025, at approximately 10:15 a.m. 

Police said the 36-year-old male suspect fled the area prior to their arrival; however, he was arrested a short time later. A deceased 30-year-old female was then located inside the residence.

Police said 62-year-old male who was present at the residence when police were called was also assaulted by the suspect. 

The male and female were known to one another.

Update the victim has been identified as 30-year-old Erin Kern. The Medical Examiner completed an autopsy and determined that Erin Kern, 30, died as a result of multiple stab wounds and the manner of death was homicide.

Investigators have charged Drew Moore, 36, with second degree murder in relation to Kern’s death and attempted murder in relation to the assault on the 62-year-old male. Moore has also been charged with several breaches, including breaching a release order and breaching a probation order.
