Amine Derradji, a 25-year-old inmate at Donnacona Institution, died in hospital on March 24, 2026, after suffering injuries during an altercation with another prisoner.

Derradji had been serving a sentence of six years, seven months and eight days since May 26, 2025. His next of kin have been notified of his death.

Correctional Service Canada (CSC) has launched a review to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident. Police and the coroner have also been notified, in accordance with CSC policy.
