The Sûreté du Québec and emergency crews were called to the report of an unconscious man in the area of Alfred Street in Saint-Gabriel-de-Brandon on September 22nd at approximately 6:00am.

On arrival, police located one man deceased. According to journaldemontreal suspects entered a man’s house, possibly to commit a home invasion. To defend himself, one of them, Daniel Avid Amzallag, was allegedly shot dead by the resident of the premises, Eric Cadieux, who was known to police circles.

Eric Cadieux appeared by videoconference to face a charge of second-degree murder.
