Brantford, Ontario 2026 Homicide Victim List
Brantford police are continuing to investigate a fatal shooting that took place Sunday evening, April 5, 2026, in the area of Erie Avenue and Gladstone Avenue, resulting in the death of a 38-year-old local man.
Authorities say the victim was attempting to help defuse a conflict when he stepped in as a good Samaritan. During the altercation, he was shot by the suspect.
Officers responded to the scene around 8:15 p.m., and with the help of a K-9 unit and the Emergency Response Team, quickly tracked down the accused. He was found hiding in the backyard of a nearby property and was taken into custody shortly after. Police also recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting.
Investigators have confirmed that no other suspects are being sought.
A 35-year-old Brantford man has been charged with multiple offences, including second-degree murder, possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, possession of a firearm while under a prohibition order, and breach of probation. He remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.
