Durham Region Police responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Mara Road and Simcoe Street in Beaverton at around 11:10 p.m. on Sunday, November 16.

Shortly afterward, police were notified that a man suffering from a gunshot wound had been dropped off at a nearby hospital. He was later pronounced dead.

Investigators currently believe the shooting was an isolated event.

The DRPS Homicide Unit is now leading the case and is asking anyone who may have information or relevant video, such as dashcam or home surveillance, to come forward.
