Barrie Ontario 2026 Homicide Victim List
Barrie police are continuing to investigate the deaths of a man and a woman who were found inside a home in the city over the weekend.
In an update released on June 22, 2026, the Barrie Police Service said its Major Crime Unit remains actively involved in the investigation. The deceased have been identified as a 45-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman, both from Barrie.
Police noted that they are not currently looking for any suspects in connection with the case. The area near St. Vincent Street and Osprey Ridge Road, which had been secured during the initial investigation, has since been reopened.
The investigation began on Saturday, June 20, when officers responded to a well-being check at a residence in the neighbourhood. Upon arrival, police discovered the bodies of a man and a woman inside the home.
Investigators believe the two individuals knew each other, and early information indicates the incident was isolated. Authorities have not reported any threat to public safety.
The cause of death remains under investigation by the Barrie Police Major Crime Unit.
Update June 25th: Barrie police have determined that the woman’s death has been deemed a homicide, while the man is believed to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The firearm involved in the incident was recovered from the scene.
Police said they will not be releasing the names of those involved; however, BarrieToday has identified the deceased as Jen Foster and Brian Ryback.
