In the early hours of Sunday, October 19, 2025, around 2:20 a.m., police responded to a report of an assault near 109 Street and 100 Avenue. Officers arrived to find a 55-year-old man unconscious.
He was treated at the scene and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Kyle Papin, 40, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.
The victim, Arvi Singh Sagoo, died from his injuries on Friday, October 24, 2025. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, with the Edmonton Medical Examiner’s Office.
At the time, Kyle Papin, 40, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. Both men were not known to one another.
Update: An autopsy determined that Sagoo died as a result of blunt head trauma and the manner of death was homicide.
As a result, the assault charge laid against Papin has since been upgraded to manslaughter.
The Edmonton Police Service Homicide Unit continues to investigate, and additional charges related to Sagoo’s death are pending. Police say the two men were not known to each other.
Papin’s next court appearance is set for Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
