Three people charged in connection with the 2023 disappearance & homicide of Robbie Thomson

The Ontario Provincial Police have arrested and charged three people in connection with the October 2023 murder of Robbie Thomson of Smiths Falls. Although Thomson’s body has never been found, investigators remained committed to pursuing the case.

On October 29th, 2025, OPP, Smiths Falls Police Service, and the OPP Emergency Response Team, with assistance from Kingston Police, arrested three individuals.

The following people have each been charged with one count of first-degree murder under section 235(1) of the Criminal Code:

Christopher FENTON, 48, of Montague Township

• Erin MACKIE, 40, of Montague Township

• Joshua BELFIORI, 34, of Kingston

All three accused remain in custody and are scheduled to appear for bail hearings before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Thursday, October 30th, 2025.

Update: OPP announced Thomson’s remains were found during a property search the week of November 1 on Kelly Jordan Road northwest of Smiths Falls.
