Calgary police are investigating a suspicious death after a body was discovered inside a northeast Calgary home following a fire.
At around 12:40 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27, 2026, investigators with the Calgary Fire Department contacted the Calgary Police Service after discovering a deceased person inside a residence in the 200 block of 27 Avenue N.E. Fire crews had been called to the property earlier in response to a fire.
CPS Homicide Unit investigators, along with members of the Medical Examiner’s Office, attended the scene and began examining the circumstances surrounding the death. Following the initial investigation, authorities determined that the death was considered suspicious.
An autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner was scheduled for Friday, Aug. 28, to help determine the cause and circumstances of the death.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police say further details will be released as they become available.
