British Columbia 2026 Homicide Victim List

A 33-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter following the death of a 27-year-old man who was assaulted outside Sweet Spot Lounge in Nanaimo earlier this month.

The assault occurred at around 1:00 a.m. on July 17, 2026. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital, where he later died despite receiving extensive medical care.

The Nanaimo RCMP Serious Crime Unit has taken over the investigation. With the case now before the courts, police say they will not be releasing any additional details at this time.

Investigators are continuing to seek witnesses who saw the assault or were in the area around the time it happened. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Nanaimo RCMP non-emergency line at 250-754-2345.
