Gatineau Quebec 2026 Homicide Victim List
A Gatineau man has died after suffering serious injuries in an armed assault last week, prompting police to classify the case as the city’s third homicide of 2026.
Gatineau Police confirmed on Monday that 45-year-old Jean Patenaude succumbed to injuries sustained during an attack that took place on Wednesday on rue Broadway Ouest. Authorities did not disclose the exact date of his death.
Following the incident, police arrested 26-year-old Kevin-Jordy Rotangar, also of Gatineau, at the scene. He was initially charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.
With Patenaude’s death, investigators are now reviewing the case to determine what additional or amended charges may be appropriate.
Police have officially designated the case as Gatineau’s third homicide of the year, and the investigation remains ongoing.
