The Norfolk County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police announced an infant was found deceased at a home on Front Road on the afternoon of November 4, 2025, prompting a police investigation.

Following several months of investigative work, a 16-year-old from Norfolk County was arrested on January 28, 2026, and charged with second-degree murder. The youth’s identity cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act and is expected to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Simcoe at a later date.

The investigation remains ongoing and is being led by the Norfolk County OPP Crime Unit, with support from the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, the Office of the Chief Coroner, the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service, and OPP Forensic Identification Services. Police are asking anyone with information related to the case to contact the Norfolk County OPP or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
