The Toronto Police Service has launched a homicide investigation following a deadly stabbing in Scarborough on Thursday afternoon.
Officers were called to the Eglinton Avenue East and Danforth Road area around 4:15 p.m. on October 16, 2025, after reports of a stabbing. When police arrived, they found a man without vital signs. Despite life-saving efforts by emergency responders, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have identified the victim as 66-year-old Kananathan Kaneshnadarajah of Toronto.
This incident marks Toronto’s 34th homicide of 2025.
Investigators have arrested 57-year-old Kunchitthapathan Nudpanathan, also of Toronto. He has been charged with second-degree murder and appeared in court at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre (2201 Finch Avenue West) on Friday, October 17, 2025.
