Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a call of a person who had been found deceased in a wooded area near Westside Park on December 4, 2023, at 12:05 p.m.

The death was later deemed suspicious and the Edmonton RCMP Major Crimes Unit took carriage of the investigation, assisted by the Grande Prairie General Investigation Section.

On Dec. 7, 2023, the Medical Examiner deemed the death of Grande Prairie resident, 34-year-old Brian Buchaski, who was identified by fingerprints a few days prior, to be a homicide. 

On Dec. 9, 2023, Police arrested 29-year-old Nathan Landry, a resident of Grande Prairie, and charged him with first-degree murder. The investigation is still ongoing. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, please contact the Grande Prairie RCMP Detachment at 780-830-5700.
