The 2023 Quebec Homicide Victim List is available here
Quebec provincial police were called to a home on St-Roch Street in Mont-Tremblant on June 11th at approximately 12:30 a.m.
On arrival, police located a 51-year-old woman suffering from serious injuries consistent with a shooting. The victim was rushed to hospital in critical condition where she died of her injuries. According to reports the victim was shot in the head while she was sleeping.
Bernard Melvin Devoe, 83, who uses a wheelchair, and had no criminal record, was initially charged with attempted murder, however, when the victim died his charge was upgraded to second degree murder.
Police have not confirmed whether or not there is a connection between the accused and the victim but reports have identified the victim as Melbita Devoe who met Bernard in the Philippines and the pair married in 2019
