Cochrane RCMP responded to a report of a deceased woman on Hwy 8 southeast of Cochrane on February 26th at approximately 6:30pm.

RCMP Major Crimes unit took over carriage of the investigation, and it was determined that the woman dies by homicide. The 24-year-old woman from Calgary has been identified as Sarah Rabik.

Update June 28th, 2021
 60-year-old Debora Joyce Rabik was arrested on June 25th and charged with second-degree murder and indignity to human remains in connection with the death of Sarah Rabik. Police said the victim and the accused are related but did not say how, however Sarah Rabik’s obituary lists Debora as her mother.
