Oshawa, Ontario 2026 Homicide Victim List
Durham Regional Police say officers from Central West Division were called to the area of Simcoe Road North and Winchester Road East around 8:10 p.m. on May 9, 2026, after reports of an armed individual.
When officers arrived, they found the man suffering from serious injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators say two groups of men became involved in a fight outside the Tim Hortons at 2700 Simcoe Street North. During the confrontation, the victim sustained fatal injuries. Police say the suspect, along with several other men, fled the area on foot, heading south and east from the restaurant.
Police launched a large-scale search with support from the Air1 helicopter unit and the DRPS K9 Unit, but no arrests have been made so far. Residents may notice a heightened police presence in the area while the investigation remains active.
Authorities believe the incident was targeted and say there is currently no threat to public safety.
The DRPS Homicide Unit is now leading the investigation and is appealing to anyone who was in the area between 7:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. to come forward. Investigators are especially interested in any cellphone, dashcam, or surveillance footage that may help identify those involved.
According to CP24, the cousin and friend of 23-year-old Emran Yousufi say he was killed while trying to protect his cousin during a fight outside a Tim Hortons in north Oshawa on Saturday night.
They said a confrontation began after a group approached them outside the restaurant, leading to a physical altercation in which Yousufi was fatally stabbed.
