York Regional Police responded to a call from a citizen who reported finding a deceased person while walking their dog along a trail north-west of a college campus in the area of Dufferin Street and 15th Sideroad on April 23, 2023, at 7:50 a.m.
Police located the deceased man and said the circumstances of his death were deemed suspicious. The Homicide Unit have taken carriage of this investigation.
The victim’s identity and cause of death have yet to be determined. A post-mortem examination is expected to take place in the coming days.

Update: The victim has been identified as Zackhry RAMNATH, 18, of the Montreal area of Quebec. Police believe this was a targeted incident.
Update On July 12th, York Region Police announced that through the investigation, officers identified the two suspects. A 15-year old female was arrested on June 5, 2023 and a 19-year-old man was arrested on July 5, 2023. Both Lyjah GRIFFITHS, 19, of the City of Cambridge, and a 15 year-old female from the City of Mississauga have been charged with First Degree Murder.
