Vancouver police make an arrest in the city’s latest homicide

Vancouver police responded to a report of an altercation inside 1125 Pendrell Street on September 10th at approximately 8:00pm. 

Police arrived to find Kyle Vincent Gabriel, 29, with life-threatening injuries. Gabriel was rushed to hospital where he later died.

On September 11th police arrested a 23-year-old Vancouver man in the area of Pendrell and Thurlow streets. During the arrest, the suspect allegedly assaulted a police officer and tried to injure a police dog.

VPD said the homicide investigation is ongoing and no charges related to the homicide have been laid at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call VPD homicide detectives at 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Update October 11
Yasin Rashid, 23, was formally charged with second-degree murder in the death of Kyle Vincent Gabriel on October 11th.
