Waterloo Regional Police responded to report of a shooting at a residence on Windale Crescent in Kitchener at approximately 4:15 a.m on December 15th.
Police arrived to find Yafiet Rezene, 19, deceased at the scene. Police have determined that there was a gathering at the home when an altercation broke out between a group of people who are believed to be known to each other and several shots were fired.
Two other people were shot but received non-life-threatening injuries. Two people were arrested, one for Obstruct Police and one for drug-related offences.

The Waterloo Regional Police Service, and the Kitchener Fire Department, responded to Sprucedale Crescent shortly after 8 a.m. on August 22nd on report of an explosion.
Police arrived to find Edresilda Haan, 58, deceased in the backyard of the home. A 58-year-old male, who also resided in the home, was airlifted to hospital with critical injuries.
Police determined that Edresilda Haan’s death was the result of a homicide. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

Update October 9th 2018
Udo Haan, 58, who remains in hospital under medical care, has been charged with first-degree murder and one count of arson with disregard for human life in relation to the house explosion that took the life of his wife Edresilda Haan.
Waterloo Regional Police responded to a report of an injured male at 926 Courtland Avenue East, at approximately 8:45pm on June 18th.
Police arrived to find Ronald Chandler, 66, suffering from obvious injuries. Chandler was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Police are looking to speak to a man who was seen in the area at the time of the stabbing. He is described as white, late 20s to early 30s with a thin build and short, light-coloured hair. He was wearing a black backpack and carrying a guitar.

Jeremy Peter Winnan, 22, from Kitchener has been charged with second degree murder, one count of Indignity to a Dead Body and Breach Probation.

Kitchener Police responded to an altercation outside a residence on Kenora Avenue, April 15th at 12:05am.
Police discovered a 23 year old male suffering from an alleged stab wound. The victim was rushed to hospital where he dies of his injury. The victim’s name will not be released until his next of kin is notified.
A 22 year old man has been arrested, Police cannot release his identity until he appears before a Justice.

Update April 17th
Police have identified the deceased as Lam Diing. A post-mortem determined the cause of death to be stabbing.
Nicholas Salim Ndayisenga, 22, from Kitchener, has been charged with one count of Second Degree Murder.
Police are looking for Ager Mohsin Hasan, 24, from Hamilton, after the body of Melinda Vasilije 22, was found dead in an apartment on Country Hill Drive in Kitchener around 3am on April 28th.
Police have not released the cause of Vasilije’s death at this time, only saying that they believe Hasan is responsible.
Hasan was last seen in Canada in a 2016 black Honda HR-V with the license plate BPKT509, crossing into the U.S.A. via the Peace Bridge.
Pennsylvania State Police said a person matching the description of Hasan was seen removing a license plate from a vehicle in the parking lot of a Walmart in Harborcreek, Pennsylvania on April 28th at around 10am.
Ager Mohsin Hasan should be considered dangerous, anyone with information is asked to call 911.
Update July 12th
Ager Mohsin Hasan, 24, was arrested in Texas in connection to the death of 22-year-old Melinda Vasilije. Waterloo police are working with American officials on transporting Hasan back to Canada. Hasan is facing a second degree murder charge in the death of Melinda Vasilije.
