Surrey police & the IHIT investigating the city’s second homicide of 2020

Surrey police responded to report of shots fired in the 8800 block of 139A St on April 7th at approximately 12:40am.

Police arrived to find a male victim deceased at the scene. The victim has not been identified however police believe the shooting was tageted.

More information will be added as it becomes available.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is investigating alongside Surrey Police. Anyone with information is asked to call Surrey RCMP at 604–599-0502 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Update April 10
Surrey police have identified the victim as Pritpal Singh, 21. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-4448, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Update April 15th
According to The Canadian Press, Robert Tomljenovic, 26, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 21-year-old Pritpal Singh. The RCMP believe the shooting was random.

Update January 26th 2022
 On January 20, 2022, Robert Tomljenovic was found guilty of Manslaughter and Robbery with a firearm. The next court appearance is for sentencing.

Update April 15th 2022
Tomljenovic was originally charged with second-degree murder, but was convicted on the lesser included charge of manslaughter. He has been sentenced to 12 years in prison, minus time already served.
