Thunder Bay, Ontario 2026 Homicide Victim List

Thunder Bay Police have arrested a second suspect in connection with the homicide of 53-year-old Corey Patrick Russon.

Police say officers responded to a report of violence during the early morning hours of Feb. 8, 2026, where Russon was found seriously injured. He was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries on Feb. 23.

Travis William Atataise, 38, has now been charged with second-degree murder. He was taken into custody on March 28 and transported to the Thunder Bay District Jail, where he is scheduled to appear in court.

A second-degree murder charge had already been laid against 33-year-old Mitchell Brian Bannon-Boucher, who remains in custody.

The investigation is ongoing, with two individuals now facing second-degree murder charges in connection with Russon’s death.
