West Shore RCMP officers responded to a well-being check at a residence just after 12 p.m. on Friday, December 31st, on Selwyn Road.

On arrival police located 59-year-old Raymonde Elder deceased inside her Selwyn Road home at Arbutus Ridge Estates mobile home park.

Ryan Robert Elder, the victim’s son, was arrested and has been charged with second-degree murder. Police believe Raymonde was killed sometime between Dec. 25 and Dec. 31, 2021. Ryan Robert Elder will remain in custody at the Vancouver Island Regional Correctional Centre.
