Police involved fatalities 2021

1 – Vancouver: 37-year-old man allegedly smashed the window to his room at a residential building near Princess Avenue and Hastings Street on January 5th at approximately 5:00am. According to reports, the man was throwing large wooden objects out of the window onto the street. Constable Tania Visintin, VPD said “Before police arrived, the man had left his residence and went to the street with a weapon in his hand. Reports came in that this man was chasing people with the weapon and using it in an aggressive and threatening manner. The man was subsequently shot by police.” The Independent Investigations Office is investigating.

  • Niagara on the Lake: Niagara uniform officers were called to the area of Lundy’s Lane and Corwin Ave following the report of a suspected impaired driver on January 5th at approximately 1:30pm. Police located the vehicle in the area of Line 3 and the Niagara River Parkway in the Town of Niagara on the Lake at 2:22pm. According to Niagara Regional Police Service there was an interaction with an adult male and he was subsequently shot by police. The Man was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The Ontario Special Investigations Unit ins investigating.
