The New Brunswick RCMP has announced a major update in the investigation into the 2021 death of 33-year-old Hyde Jochelman in Saint-Paul, N.B., which is now being treated as a homicide.

Over the next few years, between 2022 and 2024, investigators gathered new evidence and information through forensic analysis, ongoing investigative work, cooperation with the New Brunswick Coroner’s Office, and tips from Jochelman’s family. This led police to reclassify the case as a homicide.

In response, the RCMP assembled a special team of senior investigators to review the case and ensure every lead is fully pursued. Staff Sergeant Dan Sharpe explained, “As new information came to light, it was our duty to act. Our priority is to determine the truth and bring closure to Hyde’s family.”

On January 29, 2026, police executed a search warrant at a Saint-Paul residence connected to the investigation.

The RCMP is urging anyone who may have seen Jochelman or has information about her movements or associates between January 2019 and October 2021 to come forward. Tips can be reported directly to the RCMP at 1-888-506-RCMP (7267) or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
