London police were called to the area of Wateroak Drive and Heardcreek Trail for reports of multiple gunshots fired on September 10th at approximately 7:55pm.
Police located one person with life threatening injuries. The victim was rushed to hospital where they died of their injuries.
London police said “At this time, multiple investigative branches of the London Police Service are working in collaboration on this investigation and remain in the area.”

Update September 13
The victim has been identified as 30-year-old Lynda Cruz Marques. Police believe this incident was a targeted attack, and there is no threat to public safety at this time.
Update March 29th
London police have reason to believe the persons involved in the murder of Ms. Marques are from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and that they travelled to London from the GTA on September 9, and left London immediately after her murder.
- Police have released photos of two of the involved persons, as well as the black Volkswagen Jetta. Investigators are asking that citizens contact the police if they have any information about the following:- the identities of the two persons seen in the attached photo;- the activities of the two persons in the attached photo between September 9 – 10, 2021:
- The movements of the Volkswagen Jetta on September 9, 2021 while travelling from the GTA to London and after arriving in London
- The movements of the Volkswagen Jetta throughout the day on September 10, 2021, while it was in London prior to and immediately after Ms. Marques’ murder.
Update May 4th
London Police Major Crime Section announced that 18-year-old Ammar Patel, of the Greater Toronto Area, has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offence:
- First Degree Murder
Update May 13th, 2022
As a result of the investigation, Osman Ali Afandy, 23, of the GTA, was arrested in Regina, Saskatchewan on May 11, 2022, and charged with First degree murder.
