Update: Dimitri Nelson Hyacinth charged – IHIT investigates the fatal stabbing of Kulwinder Sohi in White Rock BC

White Rock RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing on April 23rd at approximately 9:30 p.m, in the 15400 block of Marine Drive, a few blocks east of the White Rock Pier.

On arrival police located 27-year-old Kulwinder Sohi of Surrey, suffering from serious injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

According to IHIT witnesses described seeing Mr. Sohi in a physical altercation with the suspect, before giving chase eastbound on the Promenade toward the parking lot adjacent to the Grand Chief Bernard Robert Charles (Pa-Kwach-Tun) Memorial Plaza. 

The suspect is described by witnesses as a black male, approximately 5’11, wearing a dark coloured hat and a grey hoodie.

This occurred in a very public location. From our video review, we know there were many witnesses in the area. If you were there or parked in the area, now is the time to call IHIT, says Sergeant Timothy Pierotti of IHIT. We will continue to work tirelessly, supported by the White Rock members as well as the other I-Teams, to identify, locate and arrest the person responsible for this tragedy.

Update The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said Monday April 29th in a statement that a 28-year-old man was arrested in Surrey, B.C., in connection with the stabbing. “This remains a very active investigation,” says Sgt. Timothy Pierotti.

Update: On April 29, 2024, IHIT investigators arrested 28-year-old Dimitri Nelson Hyacinth from Surrey, who, on April 30, 2024, was charged in relation to the aggravated assault of Jatinder Singh on April 21, 2024.

IHIT announced that on May 3, 2024, Hyacinth was charged with second-degree murder in relation to the homicide of Kulwinder Singh Sohi.
