Update: Harrison Brown sentenced to life imprisonment – Halton Police Homicide Section investigating a fatal Georgetown House fire that claimed the lives of two people

Halton Regional Police Service responded to a residence on Hidden Lake Trail in Georgetown for a fire on February 17th at approximately 5:35am.

Police and Halton Hills Fire arrived to find the home fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters located two people, a male, and a female, deceased inside the home when the fire was extinguished. They have been identified as the homeowners, 56-year-old Krystyna (Emilia) Rerak, and her 59-year-old husband Andrzej (Andrew) Rerak.

Homicide detectives have taken carriage of the investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the 1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau at 905-825-4777 ext. 2416.

Police would like to speak with the occupant of a vehicle that was observed in the area of Orchid Avenue, Robinson Road and Danby Road in Georgetown between 4:30 am and 6:00 am on Wednesday, February 17, 2021. 

Update December 2023
Harrison Brown was charged by police with two counts of first-degree murder in 2021. Brown entered a guilty plea to charges of first-degree murder in the death of Krystyna and second-degree murder in the death of Andrzej and appeared in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice in Milton on Friday December 1, 2023.

The Honourable Justice C. Conlan sentenced Brown to life imprisonment with no eligibility of parole for 25 years.
