Sault Ste Marie police responded to a 911 report of a break-in at a residence in the 200 block of Tancred Street on October 23rd, at around 10:20 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers located one victim – a 41-year-old – deceased from a gunshot wound.
At approximately 10:30 p.m., 911 communicators received another report of someone with a firearm at a residence in the 200 block of Second Line East. Police arrived to find a 45-year-old victim injured with a gunshot wound. They were taken to hospital. when police entered the home they also located a 6-year-old, a 7-year-old, and a 12-year-old, all deceased from gunshot wounds. The 44-year-old shooter, Bobbie Hallaert, was also located deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police said he did not have an active firearms license.
As these incidents are the result of intimate partner violence, the names of the accused and victims are not being released.
