Update: Youth charged in the homicide of Dwayne Bride, Hamilton’s 5th homicide this year

Hamilton police are investigating after Dwayne Bride, 42, was found unresponsive at the corner of Hess and Bold st in the early morning of June 3rd.

Detective Sgt. Peter Thom  of the Hamilton Police said “He was found lying on the sidewalk at about 2:45 a.m. after being stabbed with some sort of “sharp-edged weapon”. Bride was rushed to Hamilton General Hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police said Bride was with his family in the East end until around 10pm and are looking for witnesses who can help piece together Bride’s last moments.

Update June 23.
A 16 year old boy who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with second degree murder in connection to the death of Dwayne Bride.  Det. Sgt. Dave Oleniuk of the homicide unit said the charged is accused of insulting Dwayne Bride before stabbing him to death with a knife he was carrying.
