Canadian Provincial Homicide Statistics and Victim Lists

Peterborough police were called to a home near Talwood Drive and Goodfellow Road on March 10, 2024, after a 53-year-old man was found without vital signs. Investigators later determined the death was caused by a drug overdose.

As part of its standard practice, the Peterborough Police Service conducted a full investigation into the sudden death to determine whether criminal activity was involved. That investigation ultimately became a criminal case.

On January 28, 2026, detectives with the Peterborough Police Service arrested and charged Donald Wayne Golloher, 70, of Peterborough. He is facing multiple charges, including manslaughter, trafficking in fentanyl and cocaine, possession of hydromorphone for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Following his arrest, officers searched the accused and seized hydromorphone pills and a quantity of Canadian currency.

Golloher remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 29, 2026.

In a statement, Peterborough Police Chief Stuart Betts emphasized the importance of investigating overdose deaths, noting that every such death in the community is examined to determine whether criminal responsibility is involved. When evidence supports it, police will pursue charges in an effort to seek justice for victims and their families.
