Barrie Police Homicide began an investigation into the suspicious death of 45-year-old Brett Wickett, on July 1st 2017.

Police said an altercation occurred between Wickett and 37-year-old Bryan Smith of Barrie on June 30th. Wickett died in hospital from injuries sustained at the altercation.

Bryan Smith was charged with manslaughter on Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017.
