British Columbia 2026 Homicide Victim List

Abbotsford Police patrol officers responded to a call regarding suspicious activity at a hotel located in the 32100 block of Marshall Road on January 15, 2026, at approximately 11:42 a.m.

Officers arrived on scene, secured the area, and determined the incident was confined to a single hotel room. Evidence gathered shortly thereafter confirmed the matter to be a homicide. One adult male has been taken into custody and remains under arrest as the investigation continues.

Abbotsford Police state this was an isolated event, posing no threat to public safety, and it is not believed to be related to recent extortion investigations.

On January 16, 2026, the BC Prosecution Service approved charges of second-degree murder and indignity to human remains against Sondeep Singh Gill, a 26-year-old Abbotsford resident, in connection with the investigation.

The victim has been identified as a 30-year-old woman who lived in Abbotsford. Information regarding her relationship with Mr. Gill has not been released, as the investigation is still ongoing.
