The Sûreté du Québec responded to a request for a wellness check at a residence in Saint-Jérôme on February 27th.
On arrival, police located a woman inside who was declared deceased at the scene. Police said a man was also located in the home and taken to the hospital to receive medical care. Police say he will be interviewed once his health condition allows.
The victim has been identified as Danielle Lascelles, 67. Patrick Clavel, 50, has since been charged with murder. According to reports the victim and accused dated off and on.
According to CTV News Court records indicate that in October 2024, the accused was charged with assaulting Lascelles, making death threats, and stealing her cellphone. He later pleaded guilty and received a suspended sentence that included nine days of pretrial detention and two years of probation.
A new charge alleges that Clavel killed Lascelles sometime between Feb. 22 and 27, while he was still under that probation order.
