Barrie police and paramedics responded to a call for a disturbance at 317 Grove Street East just before midnight on July 13, 2024.

On arrival police located the 75-year-old male victim, suffering from injuries to his head and face. Despite the life-saving efforts of police and paramedics, the victim succumbed to his injuries.

Investigation said the suspect had been involved in an altercation with the victim and fled the scene before police arrival.

Shortly after 6:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 14, a 46-year-old Barrie male was arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder.

This investigation is ongoing, and further information will be released as the investigation permits. Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
