Sandy Bay RCMP responded to a report of an unresponsive man on October 9th at approximately 10:30 am.

Police found Jared Phillip Merasty 19, in serious condition and rushed him to the Sandy Bay medical centre where he died of his injuries.

The cause of Merasty’s injuries has not been released. Police said a youth has been charged with second degree murder.

The accused is scheduled to appear in Pelican Narrows Provincial Court on October 12th.
