York Regional Police responded to a check welfare call at a residence in the area of Yonge Street and Carville Road, in Richmond Hill.
On arrival police found three people deceased inside the home. Police said the incident appears to be isolated. Investigators do not believe there is any threat to public safety.
Investigators did not provide the ages or genders of the victims or their relationships. Police say the homicide unit has taken over the investigation and that incident appears to be isolated and they are not looking for any potential suspects.
Update: The deceased have been identified as a 41-year-old male, a 36-year-old female and a five-month-old infant.
Investigators believe this incident is a case of intimate partner violence. At the request of the families, the names of the deceased will not be released. Post-mortem examinations have been completed but investigators will not be releasing the causes of death at this time.
Update the victim’s family told CBC news “She has a name. She’s not just a 36-year-old woman and the baby. She died tragically. They should be named.” They have been identified as Rommelia Asuncion, 36, and her five-month-old baby girl, Morgyn Rose Asuncion-Massicotte. Also found deceased was her common-law partner Joshua Massicotte. The autopsy revealed that Rommelia and Morgyn died from severe blunt deep stab wounds.
A Gofundme campaign has been created to help the family with funeral expenses.
