Update Arrest made: Winnipeg police are investigating the city’s 7th homicide of the year

Winnipeg Police responded a report of a male shot at a  multi-unit residence in the 500 block of College Avenue on March 16th at approximately 3:00 pm.

Officers arrived to find a man in his 20’s suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was rushed to the hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced deceased.

Update March 19th
Winnipeg police have identified the deceased as Vincent Scott Ross, 24. A Canada-wide warrant has been issued for the arrest of Christian James Bruce, 28, of Winnipeg, for Second Degree Murder. Bruce has been described as Indigenous, 5’9”, approximately 146 lbs. He has brown eyes and is believed to have black hair. He has various skull-related tattoos on both arms as well as tribal-style tattoos on his face.

Update March 23rd
Bruce was located and arrested at a residence in the St. Johns neighbourhood in the evening of March 22nd. Investigators believe that Bruce and the victim were at the multi-unit residence on College Avenue when a dispute occurred and the victim was shot. Police said Bruce has been detained in custody.
