Emergency crews responded to a report of a male lying in the roadway on Main Street between Dufferin Avenue and Jarvis Avenue on July 18th at approximately 2:45am.

Valentine Ernest Sumner, 41, was found suffering from serious injuries and was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The investigation revealed that Sumner was involved in an altercation outside of a hotel/beer vendor in the 800 block of Main Street.

Police believe there were many witnesses and ask anyone with information to contact police at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

Update December 16th
Justin James Scott Gledhill, a 26-year-old male of Winnipeg, was arrested on December 14th, and has been charged with: Second Degree Murder.
