Update: Winnipeg police Homicide Section is investigating the death of Carl Wescoupe

Winnipeg Police Service responded to a hospital for the report of an adult male with a serious injury at the Manwin Hotel in the 600 block of Main Street on January 29th at approximately 5:30pm.

General Patrol officers, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, located 40-year-old Carl George Wescoupe deceased. The cause of death has not been released.

Eyan Douglas Ballantyne was charged with manslaughter & aggravated assault in the death of 40-year-old Carl George Wescoupe.

UPDATE: Both charges against Ballantyne were stayed on November 2nd. According to CBC news Police said they believed Wescoupe’s death was linked to the death of Lee James Boulette, 40, who was found dead in an apartment suite on Selkirk Avenue on Feb. 1st.
