Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 400 block of William Avenue for the report of an injured female on November 12th at 5:20am.
On arrival police located Delany Nora Desmarais, 23, suffering from a gunshot wound to her upper body. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition, where she died of her injuries.
A suspect was identified, and a Warrant of Arrest (Manslaughter) was issued in March 2024 for 49-year-old Clinton Desmond BIGNELL.
Update: On May 1, 2024, officers observed BIGNELL in the area of Furby Street and Cumberland Avenue, where he was taken into custody on the strength of the warrant.
BIGNELL is charged with the following:
- Manslaughter
- Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Pointing a Firearm
