Winnipeg homicide 1 – Derin Henninen charged with the homicide of Daniel Jawbone on Furby Street

Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a seriously injured male lying outside in the 800 block of Furby Street on  January 4, 2024, at approximately 7:30 a.m.

Police said 62-year-old Daniel JAWBONE of Winnipeg was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries. The cause of death has not been released, however, police said his death is considered a homicide.

At approximately 9:00 a.m., police arrested 59-year-old Derin HANNINEN of Winnipeg at an apartment suite in the 800 block of Furby Street. He has been charged with Second Degree Murder and detained in custody.

Investigators said JAWBONE, was assaulted earlier by the accused, HANNINEN, during an altercation in the accused’s suite.
