Update: 17-year-old charged – Waterloo Regional Police investigate the homicide of a 46-year-old man in Cambridge

WRP responded to a residence in the area of Cedar Street and Briar Hill Avenue on February 20th at approximately 10:25pm after receiving reports of shots fired.  

Police and paramedics arrived to find a 46-year-old Cambridge male, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was rushed to hospital where he died of his injuries.

Police are searching for a suspect who is described as a white male in his late teens, approximately 5’8″ tall, with a slim build, dark brown wavy hair and brown eyes. The male was last seen wearing a red satchel around his neck, a grey tracksuit with black trim zippers and strings and black shoes. He fled the scene in a vehicle that is described as a black Mazda SUV with tinted windows. 

Update February 24th
Waterloo Regional police announced this morning that the 17-year-old suspect was arrested at a residence on Saddlebrook Court in Kitchener by the Guelph Police Service during the completion of an unrelated search warrant. Waterloo Regional Police then took over custody of the male.
