Victim dies in hospital after daytime shooting in Mississauga

Peel police responded to report of a shooting in the area of Dundas Street East and Cawthra Road in the city of Mississauga at approximately 11:15am on March 11th.

Police and paramedics arrived to find a 32-year-old Michael Deabaitua-Schulde, suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was rushed to hospital where he died a few hours later.

Police said one suspect was seen fleeing east on Dundas Street. The investigation is still in its early stages. More information will be added as it becomes available.

This is the fourth Peel Region homicide of 2019, the third for the city of Mississauga.

Marckens Vilme, 28, was charged with first-degree murder, and 24-year-old Brandon Reyes was intially charged with accessory after the fact. Reyes’ charge was later upgraded to a charge of first-degree murder.

Joseph Pallotta, a 38-year-old man, surrendered to police on March 17 after a Canada-wide warrant for his arrest was issued.

Marc Issa El-Khoury was arrested in connection with the murder on March 21. He was arrested while attempting to cross the border into the United States from Champlain, Que.

The three were found guilty of first-degree murder and sentenced to prison for life and Issa El-Khoury was acquitted.
