Vancouver police release an image of a female suspect who is wanted in relation to the homicide of Jeff Jeanty

Vancouver police said 34-year-old Jeff Jeanty, was located shortly after midnight on January 3, when Vancouver Fire Rescue Services responded to a suspicious outdoor fire near Powell Street and Raymur Avenue, in the Downtown Eastside.

Homicide investigators immediately took over the investigation and collected evidence, identifying suspects, and analyzing DNA to identify the victim. As a result of the investigation investigators are asking for the public’s help to identify a suspect captured on camera in the Downtown Eastside around the time of the murder. She is described as a female, in her 20s with a fair complexion, she is believed to be approximately 5’8” tall, between 120 and 140 pounds, and had long dark hair in a ponytail at the time of the murder. She was wearing a black ball cap with a white logo on the front, a black jacket over a dark shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes with white soles.

Investigators said “Though the murder was Vancouver’s first of 2023, due to the sensitive nature of the investigation VPD has been unable so far to provide details. With important evidence now secured, VPD can release some information about the case.”
