Vancouver police investigate the early morning homicide of 32-year-old Wataru Kakiuchi in the city’s east end

Vancouver police responded to reports of a man in medical distress on Union Street, just east of Main Street on June 5th at approximately 3:30am.

First responders discovered that 32-year-old Wataru Kakiuchi had been stabbed. Despite life-saving efforts the victim died at the scene.

According to reports Kakiuchi was a chef at at Hapa Izakaya.

Officers arrested Timothy Isborn in the Downtown Eastside, and charged him with one count of second-degree murder.  Anyone with information is asked to call VPD’s Homicide Unit at 604-717-2500.
