High Prairie RCMP responded a report of an assault at a residence in Atikameg on Whitefish First Nation on April 27th.

On arrival police located 56-year-old Beatrice Laboucan deceased in the residence. Her cause of death has not been revealed.

A man was taken into custody at the scene and as a result of the investigation, RCMP charged 31-year-old Tristan Patrick Kayne Grey with Second-degree-murder on April 28, 2023.
